Sculpture made of fired clay, 16 " high, not including wooden base. Approximately 18" to 19" across. Hand-painted, not glazed, with pearlescent acrylic paints.

"THE DREAM"

Inspired by "Le Rêve" (French, "The Dream"), the 1932 oil painting by Pablo Picasso, then 50 years old, portraying his mistress Marie-Thérèse Walter.

This is the other side of the same sculpture. It is also inspired by the cubist style of Picasso. 22"h x 16"l x 20"w. It is unglazed clay, slightly painted in places with watered down yellow and brown.

"OCEAN'S DEEP" close-up

This deeply three-dimensional sculpture is painted with hand-made glazes. The color on the clay is semi-opaque, and mottled. It does not have a solid, smooth finish.

Before the clay was dried enough to be ready for the first firing in the kiln, the clay was cut into three sections. This allowed the parts to fit into the already-large kiln.

Now mounted on an extremely sturdy wooden panel, the finished sculpture's size is 36" x 16" x 5". I cannot personally lift the sculpture. It is quite heavy.
