SWAN TRANSFORMATION

The painting, "Swan Transformation," is very special to me. You have probably heard the tale of the "Ugly Duckling" who turns into a lovely swan. In this artwork, the story continues with the swan turning into a beautiful woman! The woman floats upon the water in a fashion after Botticelli's Venus.

Two women at the left of the pool are from "The Danaides," an oil painting by John William Waterhouse. In Greek mythology, King Danaus instructed his daughters to kill their husbands, the sons of his twin brother, King Aegyptus, on their wedding night. It is an interesting tale. As punishment for killing their husbands, the Danaides were sentenced for eternity to pour water into a never-filling bath.

There are also several "hidden" animals in this painting. Can you see them? An owl, two crocodiles, a gecko, a red cardinal, and... what else can you find?
